Paintings
The fullness of Vivian Reiss’ life is reflected in the vibrancy of her paintings. Her work is large scale, luminously colored, and endowed with a vibrant sense of joie-de-vivre. The vitality of her life is channelled in her vivid portraits, still-lifes, and landscapes. Reiss’ work is a passionate exploration of form and color, thriving off the interplay and tension between both.

Food
Food is an essential part of Reiss’ artistic output. It has color, aroma, depth, form and interplay… all the qualities of art in an edible form. An aesthetic experience that you can enjoy not just with your eyes but with all 5 senses. Reiss creates original recipes with food that she grows in her own urban gardens (yes even her Manhattan garden). She grows the food for it, creates the recipe, cooks it, styles the food with antique pieces from her collections, and immortalizes these delicious tastes in photos. The photographs capture the ephemeral for all to enjoy.

Architectural Design
Vivian’s artistry expresses itself in three dimensions, she creates a total work of art in the spaces she’s designed. Renovating and designing from the studs up, more than 60 spaces, her architectural design work has been featured on multiple magazine covers, and in dozens of top tier magazines in North America and globally, including Russia Architectural Digest, Showcase Magazine, and Salon di Mobile.
Gardens
Gardens are the bed of life. Vivian’s gardens are wild and free, where deep purple eggplants grow next to abundant colourful roses, and 8 foot high tropical Tarot leaves make friends with 14 foot high hungarian broom corn, all flourishing in a downtown front garden on the cool eastern seaboard.
Vivian grows the garden, creates painting from the garden, transforms its fruits into delicious dishes that are a feast for the mouth and eyes, which are photographed to transform that seed of life into yet another work of art that lives on.
